The Directorate of Scientific Research was established to strengthen the university's standing as an academic research institution that generates knowledge, to raise the quality of scientific research in line with international academic accreditation standards, and to direct research activity toward issues of society and sustainable development — within an organized institutional framework that supports innovation, helps translate research outputs into applications of scientific and economic value, and enhances the university's ranking and presence in global scientific databases and classifications.

To advance the university into a leading research institution that contributes to producing solid scientific knowledge, supports innovation, and serves sustainable development locally, regionally, and internationally.

To organize and develop the university's scientific research system by supporting researchers, enhancing the quality of research, directing it toward development and societal issues, and building effective research partnerships with prestigious scientific institutions.

Sixteen tasks that run the scientific research system
Propose the university's general policy and plans for scientific research, and follow up on their implementation.
Prepare and organize the instructions and procedures for scientific research (registration, follow-up, evaluation, and completion of research).
Study and review interim and final research reports and submit them to the relevant authorities.
Build up the research capacities of faculty members and graduate students.
Encourage students to engage in scientific research from the undergraduate stage onward.
Establish research units in cooperation with colleges and academic departments.
Create and manage an electronic database of researchers and link it to the university's digital systems.
Build research partnerships with local and international universities and research centers.
Oversee cooperation in scientific peer review, and supervise theses and research work.
Support applied research and link it to the needs of society and the labor market.
Ensure commitment to the ethics of scientific research and intellectual property rights.
Organize conferences, seminars, and research workshops.
Support scientific publishing in peer-reviewed, internationally indexed journals.
